Why You Should Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone Now

It’s natural to enjoy living within comfortable surroundings where you know exactly what to expect, but there may be some very good reasons to get out of your comfort zone and live a little. They say life begins when you step outside of your comfort zone. What if that’s true? Outside of that zone may be new opportunities, new relationships, career changes, even adventure. What if you’re missing out because it’s easier to keep things the same? Life is short and has no guarantees. Perhaps it’s time to step outside your trusted comfort zone ... but how exactly do you do it?

The following are a few steps to help you break the routine and live within a new standard of comfort ...

Why You Should Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone Now | Globe Life
  1. Make a list. Make a list of the things you want to do, but are afraid to. Are you afraid because they are out of your routine and are too challenging? Write down the way you think you can make something happen and then decide if it’s worth it. When you visualize your perceived barriers, they may not seem so big after all. Rank your list by importance or by ease and then decide what to tackle first.
  2. Start small. You don’t have to do it all at once. Begin working around challenges a little at a time. Think baby steps.
  3. Ignore negative opinions. People are quick to judge or offer unsolicited opinions without really knowing what you’re truly going for. It’s normal to fear what others may think when you try something different. However, some of the most successful people are those who dared to try something different and outside of their comfort zone.
  4. Surround yourself with positivity. Surround yourself with people who are positive and who believe in you. They can provide encouragement and motivation to keep going.
  5. Disregard failure. Just because stepping outside of your comfort zone is typically a good thing, it doesn’t mean it always works the way you planned. Don’t consider the worst-case scenarios. Instead, take a chance and deal with whatever happens. There is strength in adversity and the best things in life don’t typically come without some work.
  6. Keep the finish line in view. If you can see yourself doing something new by getting out of your comfort zone, it can give you the motivation and determination to experience so many new things. Picture what that would be like. Envision that finish line and keep it in view.
